I am a painter and a drawer(?!) and not nearly as humorless as I appear in this photograph.  Originally from the UK, I moved to New York City to earn a BFA in Cartooning at the School of Visual Arts.  I studied under golden-age comic book artists Carmine Infantino and Joe Orlando, but it was acclaimed illustrator James McMullen's “High-Focus Drawing” program that became my central influence while at SVA.

After graduating I went on to pursue an interest in CG animation which led to a 10-year career as a character animator at Blue Sky Studios (credits include films in the ICE AGE and RIO franchises, Horton Hears a Who! and Peanuts).  In 2016 I retired from feature film animation to focus on my first passion of drawing and painting.  I've also since returned to SVA to teach at both the undergraduate and graduate level.

My practice includes attending life-drawing sessions at The Salmagundi Club at which my work has been exhibited in group shows and recognized with awards including a “Best in Show” prize in 2019.

For more information about my work, or to arrange a studio visit at which I may make you a really awful cup of tea, please get in touch here.
